Summary
This submission puts forward key priorities for the upcoming budget. The VPSJ is very conscious of the enormity of the financial crisis facing the country and of the challenges facing the Government. Nevertheless, the position of the VPSJ is that social welfare transfers must be protected and cuts in Government spending should not be targeted at those on the lowest incomes for whom life ‘is one long struggle’.
